Our Pinciples

Integrity Is Everything

Having basic fundamental moralistic and ethical principles are what guide us to say and do the right thing by ourselves and others regardless of personal cost.  It’s what separates us from those who thirst for positions of power and influence who clearly have allowed their own integrity to compromised for one reason or another.  Thus, rather than expect them to change their ways we must become the change in the world that we long to see become the norm.

Without it what are we?  Take the MSM for example, they have very little integrity these days because they cannot be trusted let alone respected to tell the truth.  Their bias towards one particular political ideology over another is clear as day,  Worse still is how they treat others with opposing views without even daring to look into the eye’s of the soul when the stand in front on a mirror.  We must rise above this way of thinking and being and strive to be a better version of ourselves today than we were yesterday.

By all means, we’re fully aware that when word gets around about People’s Assembly, we’ll be targeted by the same individuals and the organizations that server their own interests and not those of the people as a whole.  Thus we, the people behind People’s Assembly know full well we must rise above the rhetoric and not compromise ourselves in any way, shape or form.  We must stay true and just to the basic fundamental principles that not only makes us human, but also to the very fundamental principles that are the basis of every a free and open democratic society.

Online Etiquette

We all have our shadow selves that we keep hidden behind the masks we wear out in public.  When left unchecked our masks will slip of because our words do not align with our actions and reveals the fact the we have much work left to do on ourselves and our self control.  Hence, when we are online he have a false sense of security that we can take our masks off and behave in ways we would never do in public.  You can always judge the true strength and nature of a persons character by their etiquette in how they treat others online.  If it doesn’t mirror their offline persona in the real world it simply means that in real life they are not who they pretend to be.   Hence, we’ve put the following guidelines togther that we should all learn to put into practice in our daily lives as it allows us all to stop pretending to be something we’re not and allows us to be our true selves.

No. 1 – Be Open, Honest & Transparent

Until we can look ourselves in the eye in the mirror and be honest with ourselves can we be open, honest and transparent with others.  It allows us to become comfortable and unafraid of our truth selves and fearless of what others might think of us.

No. 2 – Freedom Of Speech

To think freely we must be able to speak freely so that we can air our thoughts, ideas, opinions and beliefs.  Those who wish to control free speech wish to control how we think and how we act.  Having the freedom to speak does not give us freedom from responsibility from the consequence of what we say.  One tried and tested way to achieve this is the practice of speaking from the heart as the mind is often plagued by the master trickster called the ego which left unchecked can turn into man’s worst enemy.   Hence offense is often taken but not given when the ego feels it is offended and when it is your heart will tell you  whether its because of an objective truth or a subjective falsehoods.

No. 3 – Take Ownership & Responsibility

None of us are perfect as we’ve made mistakes and been wrong in the past as its all part of the great learning curve of life.  So there’s nothing ashamed about being wrong as one of the most liberating things we can all do is admit it, own it and take responsibility.  It’s how we learn, grow and evolve as a person because the wisdom of experience from past mistakes usually occurs two minutes after we learnt the hard way.  It’s also one of the fastest ways to earn respect from others.

No. 4 – Tolerance

We come from all walks in life of many different shapes and sizes of different experiences, opinions and belief systems.  We all have something worthwhile to contribute in life no matter what group or ideology we align with. Some of the best conversations we can have are with those that disagree with us as because our worse enemies can teach us the best lessons in life. Just remember, there are more things that bind us together than separates us and whilst we might disagree with some things, doesn’t mean there are things we cannot agree on, even if we agree to disagree.

No. 5 – Facts & Figures

Whilst there is only one fundamental truth, facts & figures can be used to either support or distorted it.  Despite this they are fundamental to every exchange as they formulate our thoughts, opinions, beliefs, words and actions.  Only the facts and figures that support fundamental truth are fearless in the eyes of scrutiny and stand the test of time.  Thus if you can support what you say by producing facts & figures that stand up to scrutiny over time the more likely your viewpoint isn’t just an opinions, its far more probable to be a fundamental truth.

No. 6 – It’s Not About Left Or Right

In politics people often get caught up in the age old trap of thinking that its left vs right, us against them when in truth its about right vs wrong.  It’s the same in religion in respect to whose god is the real god when in truth you don’t need to follow any god to be a good person and walk a more godly life as seen by their actions.

No. 7 – Treat Others Online How You Would Treat Them Face To Face

We all know how debates can get heated from time to time so please remember to be respectful to one another.  Discuss and argue your points like adults, not children.  Don’t insult or belittle others if they have a different viewpoint or opinion to yourself because those who resort to abuse and insults often have run out of anything worthy to contribute as they’ve lost the argument and have nothing else to discuss.  Being civil to one another is a fundamental basis of a civilized society and civilization.

No. 8 – Nothing Illegal Or Immoral

Whilst discussing mankind’s corrupt, illegal and immoral tendencies is one thing, it should never be promoted or advertised as a way of being.  In regards to morality there will always be things that offend and go against our and moral fibers.  As long as no harm is being done between consenting adults its wiser to question our own subjective belief systems and put things into context.  By becoming a member of Locale you agree not to post anything homophobic, racist, sexist, transphobic, xenophobic, sexually explicit or content that incites violence and hatred towards fellow humans.

Rules Of Engagement

The freedom to speak is the freedom to think and share our thoughts, ideas, opinions, beliefs, ideologies, knowledge, skills, and experiences with others no matter how difficult others find it to accept or understand them.

Like truth, only those that stand up to logic, reason, common sense and supported by undisputed evidence live to stand up to the test of time whilst all others fall away into the shadows. With such freedoms comes responsibility as we are accountable as much for the words we speak as we are with our actions, so use them wisely.

We all have the freedom of thought, conscience, religion, expression, belief, peaceful assembly, association, movement, choices, and the freedom from discrimination. The bottom line has forever been to treat others with the same respect you expect to be treated yourself no matter how much you might disagree with their ideas, opinions, beliefs, and ideologies.  The more we waste time attacking the messengers rather than the message, the less time we spend focusing on what’s important, and the more time we waste on banter best left in the playground.

Whenever a discussion or debate occurs between two parties with opposing viewpoints, different approaches to solutions, its up to each party to put their base case forward along with supporting evidence. During which many types are often involved where some arguments are better than others because they hold more weight than the other.  For example, the pyramid to the right shows the different types of arguments people use to justify their position.  Those at the bottom of the pyramid carry no weight whatsoever and used by those who have lost the debate and have nothing worthwhile to contribute.  At the top of the pyramid are the types of arguments that carry the most weight are will forever win any debate.

For Arguments Sake

During any discussion its always wise to keep in the mind the different types of arguments people use.  The higher your point of view is the hierachical pyramid the more weight your argument or opinion will have with a debate.
